On Tuesday, June 8, the Latin Patriarchate clergy in Jordan held their first “physical” meeting in the Latin Vicariate at Mary of Nazareth Church in Sweifieh, Western Amman.
At the outset of the meeting, the clergy had an hour of prostration before the Holy Communion in the presence Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop William Shomali, as well as priests of the Latin Patriarchate and other orders of the Catholic Diocese in Jordan.
After signing the hymn “Regina Caeli, the clergy met with Patriarch Pizzaballa who talked about “Jerusalem in the Book of Revelation”. He said, “I would like our first meeting to be spiritual and based on the texts of the Bible, which are the constitution of our life as well as the basis of our spirituality and pastoral work.“
A discussion ensued between the patriarch and the priests which revolved around different issues. The priests talked about hopes for the future with regards to resumption of normal activities with the onset of July, at a time when such activities had been confined to social media networking sites.
During the meeting, which was later joined by Charge d’Affaires of the Vatican Nunciature in Amman Monsignor Mauro Lalli, the clergy conveyed well wishes to Fr. Farah Hijazin who marked the golden jubilee of his priestly ordination as well as to Fr. Bashir Bader, Fr. Ya’coub Rafidi, and Fr. Ibrahim Shomali who have celebrated the silver jubilee of their priestly ordination.
