The American University of Madaba (AUM), in cooperation with the Community Peace Center, has organized a seminar titled, “Combating Extremist Ideology and Electronic Recruitment.”
During the seminar, Captain Mohammad Rbaihat talked about the nature of the center’s activities, achievements, and mechanism which aims at combating extremist ideology and hate speech. He pointed out the importance of establishing social peace clubs in universities so that the enrolled students can combat negative phenomena and violent extremism in an unusual way by resorting to art, acting, and music. He also talked about the dangers posed by social networking sites, electronic games, and extortion in addition to the role which students can play in achieving societal peace
The meeting was attended by members of the academic and administrative staff in addition to university students.
At the end of the seminar, the AUM public relations and media official at the university thanked the Public Security Directorate on behalf of AUM President Mamoun Akroush for this valuable seminar, and noted that the AUM looks forward to more joint cooperation for the benefit of the country and citizens.
