On Thursday, 5/4/3023, the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF), Lions Club, and Medlab Laboratory held a medical day for over 50 elders. The medical exams were at the Birzeit Social development and Cultural Center (BSCC) in Birzeit. These exams included blood pressure / diabetes / triglycerides / cholesterol, and a medical report was issued for each elder for follow up and treatment. At the end of the exams, a breakfast was served for the elderly provided by the Lions Club Ramallah.
The Lions Club was established in Ramallah in 2015, and is part of Lions Clubs International, a leading humanitarian organization around the world. There are four regional clubs in Palestine and three youth clubs that assist all groups in various fields, including nutrition, medical examinations, visual impairment, childhood cancer, diabetes control, Ramadan breakfast, as well as several aids that serve marginalized groups and those with low income.
Sir Rateb Rabie, HCEF President and CEO, who resides in Washington, DC explained that HCEF is committed to the betterment of life in Palestine. Our aim is to continue aiding and providing free services to these groups in society in all aspects of health, such as eye exams, blood tests, hearing tests, vaccinations, and so forth. Sir Rabie added that organizing such medical activities at the BSCC is in line with the HCEF’s vision, mission, and goals, and its management’s interest in contributing to the development of Palestine, and to serving the community in Ramallah and its surrounding towns and villages.
On behalf of the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation and the BSCC members and staff, we extend our sincere thanks for the presence of the members of the Lions Club, especially Ms. Sulima Zabaneh and Suhair Jubran. Sulima is a member of the Board of Directors of the Lions Club and one of the founders of the BSCC who has volunteered for many years as manager of the Center. Suhair is responsible for the youth group. We also extend our special thanks to the technical staff from the Medlabs Palestine laboratory, represented by Ms. Dalia Jaradat, for conducting the exams, and to Areen Rinawi, the wonderful photographer.
