On June 22, the 96th Plenary Assembly of the Reunion of Works for the Aid of Eastern Churches (Roaco) concluded in Rome with a meeting with Pope Francis. The Assembly was led by Archbishop Claudio Gugerotti, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Oriental Churches and president of ROACO. Those present discussed various topics including, the situation in the Holy Land, Turkey and Iran. They also listened to a group of young people who came to Rome from 13 countries. According to Br. Francesco Patton, Custos of the Holy Land, this year’s Roaco “was particularly significant because we also heard news from the hot fronts of the Eastern churches. Information about the reality of the Middle East, but also information about the reality of Turkey, Ethiopia and also Iran”.
