On Wednesday, November 1st, 2023, on the Feast of All Saints, at the Pro-Cathedral of the Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem, His Beatitude Cardinal Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, consecrated Maria Ruiz Rodriguez according to the rite of the Ordo Virginum, during a Mass, which was concelebrated by many Bishops, and Vicars. In the presence of many priests, religious sisters, and a crowd of faithful who are close in friendship to Maria, representing the diversity of our diocese, who are united in Christ.
In his homily, the Patriarch noted that the word ‘Blessed’ in the sermon of the Beatitudes, translates to both happy and blessed. “The Gospel does not call us to become heroes, but saints,” he added. “Christ invites us all to follow him. His encounter illuminates our lives so that we can bring the light of the Paschal Lamb, the symbol of the Resurrection, to all those around us, especially here in Jerusalem, which is not just a place, but also a way of living.” This is the mission of all the consecrated people, of those who, out of love, gave their lives to Christ. It’s not an impossible mission, but a marvelous one, because nothing is impossible for God. Especially in our Church today, which is so deeply wounded and suffering, yet so fervent and full of grace”.
