From 26 February to 2 March, the Custos of the Holy Land, Fr. Francesco Patton was able to visit his brothers of the Holy Land who live and work in Buenos Aires (Argentina).

During his visit, there was time for a personal conversation with each friar, time to share the main moments of fraternal life and to celebrate the local Chapter together.

The Terra Sancta School

The visit was also characterized by some institutional visits, in particular to meet and talk to the academic and administrative authorities of the local Terra Sancta School.

The Custos was able to see that the critical period coinciding with the pandemic has now been overcome and that in the last year the School has once again had an increase in enrolments, standing at round 500 pupils from the nursery school to the middle school.

The new classrooms on the third floor for the computer laboratories were also inaugurated during the visit and the project for  the internship of the course of social communication, which includes producing a digital magazine and radio and TV programmes, was also examined.

The meeting with Mons. Quintana

On Thursday 29 February there was also the meeting with the President of the Argentinian Bishops’ Conference, Mons. Oscar Vicente Ojea Quintana to illustrate the situation of the small Christian community of the Holy Land in these difficult times of war. The meeting was an opportunity to thank the Catholic Church of Argentina for its closeness and support for the Custody of the Holy Land and also to raise awareness of the Good Friday Pro Terra Sancta Collection.
