For most of you who are hoping to hear good news, I can only tell you that the Israeli Supreme Court has issued an order to temporality halt the home demolitions, until the legal inquiry has been completed. During this period we have submitted all necessary documents to prove the legitimacy of our claim and to prove that the land is within the boundary of the Municipal Council of Beit Sahour.
The order was issued on 13/10/2002 and states no demolition should take place until the Supreme Court issues its final decision. The Israeli Urban Planning Authority is forbidden to take any action against the homes located on Jabal Al Diek.
Some of us are relieved concerning the decision, but others feel this is just a delaying tactic. We know we have a long way ahead of us, but I know in my heart that the citizens of Beit Sahour will fight to the last drop of our blood to protect our homeland.
During that time we are still in urgent need of your continued support in any way you are able to contribute to the case.
May peace and justice prevail upon all nations.
