The Patriarchs and Heads of Churches in Jerusalem invite you to join them in the Solidarity Convoy for Peace, which will take place Tuesday 23 of October, and aims to:
1) Show our solidarity with the People of Bethlehem area who are under Israeli military intervention.
2) Call for an immediate end of the intervention in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories.
3) Call for an immediate end of all forms of violence from all sides.
4) Call on the International Community to ensure the protection of the civilian population.
5) Call on the Israelis and the Palestinians to return soon to the table of negotiations in order to reach a just and comprehensive solution based on the resolutions of the International Legitimacy.
6) Call on the United Nations to press both parties to comply with all international resolutions and implement them immediately.
You are invited to gather at Tantur checkpoint at 10.45 a.m.
From there the convoy will enter Bethlehem and go to Nativity Square for a short prayer; to meet with the population and to present our condolences to the bereaved families. The convoy will continue to Beit Jala for a similar solidarity visit to the families of the victims at the Latin Patriarchate School.
Consul Generals, Religious Communities, both Moslems and Christians, Peace Movements together with all men and women of good will are invited to share this event.
