As part of our outreach to churches outside the Holy Land, we have created an educational and spiritual immersion into the lives of Holy Land Christians that we call Holy Land Day. A Holy Land Day includes some or all of the following:
· An introduction to the situation of Holy Land Christians through a presentation, displays & exhibits, photos, videos, and other materials on related topics (at the church’s discretion)
· A homily by a priest or clergy member familiar with the Holy Land And its living stones – the Palestinian Christians – tying in the day’s scriptures with the lived experience of faith in the Holy Land and with HCEF’s mission to support the living stones
· An introduction to the Child Sponsorship program, the Holy Land Gifts program, Living Stones Pilgrimage, and other HCEF programs that help ease the suffering of Holy Land Christians who are committed to remaining in the land where our Savior was born, crucified, and resurrected.
We present our programs at a Holy Land Day because we find that when people begin to understand the difficulty of life for our brother and sister Christians in the Holy Land, they want to offer concrete support. That support can range from prayer support to sponsoring a child in a Christian school, to helping renovate the home of a Christian in the Bethlehem area. Every program is intended to alleviate short-term distress and to build a community that sustains the long-term ability of Christians to remain in the Holy Land.
