Welcoming the Latin Patriarch of the Holy Land and Jordan, Fouad Twal, the King emphasised the need to step up efforts to protect Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem, preserve the rights and Arab identity of Jerusalemites and stand by their side against Israeli pressures.
His Majesty commended the efforts of the patriarch and the church in safeguarding the rights of Christians in Jerusalem and spreading the message of love and peace in the region.
Twal lauded the King’s tireless endeavours to bring about a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East as well as his continued support for Christians in Jordan, Palestine and the region at large.
The meeting was attended by Bishop Maroun lahham, Latin vicar in Jordan, Dr. Fayez Tarawneh, chief of the Royal Court, and Imad Fakhoury, director of the King’s office.
