Augusta Victoria Hospital dispatches a medical team to Gaza Strip
This morning Augusta Victoria Hospital (AVH) dispatched a team of doctors and nurses to the Gaza Strip in order to extend a helping hand to their colleagues there and help to alleviate the suffering.
The AVH team included specialists in emergency medicine, intensive care, surgery, internal medicine and pediatrics, with accompanying specialty nursing. The team brought along much needed medical supplies and medicines.
The Chief Executive Officer of AVH, Dr. Tawfiq Nasser, reported that sending this team is part of the hospital’s service to the Gaza Strip. This action comes in response to the extreme needs identified by the medical staff in Gaza and rises out of the AVH determination to serve the injured due to the Israeli shelling and bombing.
Dr. Nasser also added that AVH services to the Gaza Strip have been ongoing for many years and have focused on treating hundreds of cancer patients coming from Gaza. But, as a result of this tragic war in the Gaza Strip, the hospital added a department of 16 beds for war casualties and opened the door for AVH staff to volunteer to go to Gaza to offer assistance and to stand united alongside our Palestinian colleagues.
