Amman – A new center run by Caritas Jordan was inaugurated yesterday, October 27, in the town of Karak, 130 kilometers south of Amman, one of the poorest areas of the Hashemite Kingdom. The activities of the new center will be animated by a staff of 27 operators, who will enter straight into the action with a “winter campaign” aimed at supporting the poorest families, both Christian and Muslim. The first phase of the “winter campaign” provides for the distribution of spending vouchers to be distributed among the poorest sections of the population in the area.
The inauguration was attended by the Greek Melkite Archbishop Yasser Hanna Ayyash and representatives of the local political institutions, together with the director of Caritas Jordan, Wael Suleiman.
