"At the beginning of this holy month, I send my Muslim brothers, my best wishes, hoping that God covers them with his blessings and protects our beloved Country, assuring it stability". This is what the Patriarch of Babylon of the Chaldeans, Louis Raphael I said in the message to the members of Islam during the fasting month that Iraq has only just begun. In the message, the text of which was sent to Agenzia Fides, the Primate of the Chaldean Church stresses that Ramadan 2015 comes at a time marked by fear and anxiety for the future, after Iraq has become a new battlefield where "local, regional and international conflicts have been triggered".
The Patriarch takes advantage of the message to Muslims to emphasize the urgent need for national reconciliation that, through the implementation of necessary political reforms, does not exclude any of the components of Iraqi society. True heroism – said the Patriarch – "is not those who fight wars and kill more. The real hero is one who works for peace, for freedom and the dignity of all".
