Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church of Alexandria Tawadros II on Saturday, November 28, presided at the Coptic Church in Jerusalem, the funeral prayer of Archbishop Dr. Anba Abraham, the Coptic Orthodox Metropolitan Archbishop of Jerusalem and the Near East, who passed away on Wednesday, November 25.
The funeral prayer was attended by Chief Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat who represented Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, a number of public figures, a delegation of Orthodox Coptic Church bishops who had arrived earlier from Egypt, and a group of Holy Land bishops from various Churches led by Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem Patriarch Fouad Twal, the President of the Assembly of the Catholic Ordinaries of the Holy Land, and a group of Coptic Orthodox parishioners from Jerusalem.
In his address, Pope Tawadros II said: “Today Anba Abraham, the Coptic Orthodox Metropolitan Archbishop of Jerusalem, moves to the heavenly glory, and we are confident that he service was blessed.” He added that the late Anba Abraham acquired the love of all as he served his homeland and Church. Noting that life is a trust, he said that all humans are given the choice to map out their ways in life and that a day of judgment awaits every human being.”
