Secretary General of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs of the East Fr. Khalil ‘Ulwan has sent a message to Director of the Catholic Center for Studies and Media (CCSM) in Jordan Fr. Dr. Rif’at Bader thanking him for organizing the conference on “Media and their Role in the Defence of the Truth”.
Hoping that the conference would mark the start of close cooperation between the CCSM and the Council of Catholic Patriarchs of the East, Father ‘Ulwan said is his message: “I am pleased to thank you for organizing this successful conference, and I hope that this conference will be the beginning of close cooperation between us in the future in the service of our Eastern Churches and Arab communities.”
He pointed out that the conference of the Catholic Patriarchs of the East, which will be held in Cairo in November 2019, will dedicate a session to read a report on the held conference and a draft plan for the proposed coordination body.
The international conference titled, “Media and its Role in Defending the Truth” was held in Amman on June 18-19, 2019. The conference was organized by the Council of Catholic Patriarchs of the East located in Beirut, the Catholic Center for Studies and Media located in Amman, as well as the Platform for Dialogue and Cooperation among Religious Leaders and Institutions in the Arab World located in Vienna.
Within the framework of the conference, sessions were held by the representatives of the seven Catholic Patriarchates in the East and their affiliated media centers under the chairmanship of Secretary General of the Council of Catholic Patriarchs of the East Fr. Khalil ‘Ulwan and in the presence of Mr. Andrea Tornielli, editorial director of the Vatican’s Dicastery for Communications, in order to discuss establishing a media coordinating body affiliated with the Council of Patriarchs of the East.
