Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jordan Bishop William Shomali took part in the Second Conference of Divine Mercy in the Middle East, opened by Maronite Patriarch Bishsara Rahi, which convened in Lebanon on August 15-18.
The conference titled, “Send Me Holding the Treasures of Your Mercy” was attended by Arab, Asian, and European delegations.
In an exclusive statement to en.anouna.org website, Bishop Shomali said, “During the conference, we spoke of divine mercy, and we marked divine mercy during the Holy Mass celebrated at the conclusion of the conference.” He pointed out the need to manipulate the message of mercy as a mode of daily life, especially in the Middle East, by trusting in the Lord with all one’s heart and experiencing compassion with others.
Bishop Shomali hoped that missionary groups would be formed in Jordan under the name of divine mercy, in order to pray the rosary and to live the spirituality experienced by St. Maria Faustyna Kowalska and St. Pope John Paul II.
He concluded his statement saying, “Mercy is like a fire that must spread and light all parts of the Earth.”
