On Thursday, July 2, Latin Patriarchal Vicar for Jerusalem and the Holy Land Bishop Paul Marcuzzo consecrated with chrism a total of 32 children of the parishioners of the Church of Jesus the Redeemer in Taybeh/ the Holy Land.
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by parish priest Fr. Johny Abu Khalil and Fr. Aziz Halaweh in the presence of nuns and a large number of people.
In his homily, the Bishop Paul Marcuzzo addressed the children saying: “Today you accept the Holy Spirit by being anointed with Chrism after having received earlier the Sacrament of Baptism. Today, the Spirit of Lord Jesus Christ overwhelms you, and you are no longer ordinary Christians, but soldiers of Christ as you bear the responsibility of being Christian witnesses of Christ and of the Cross of Jesus.”
After the homily, the children announced their disbelief in satan and all his deeds; and they declared their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Then, they received the Sacrament of Confirmation which is a special outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Through Confirmation, the Holy Spirit gives them the increased ability to practise their Christian faith in every aspect of their lives and to witness Christ in every situation.
