Easter 2020 has invoked memories that are mixed with joy and sadness.

Easter celebrations 2020 coincided with the spread of Corona pandemic which instilled fear in the hearts of the entire people of the universe, wreaked havoc on world economies, spiked unemployment, and drew a bleak image of the future.

The Easter celebrations coincided with strict instructions to impose lockdowns that lasted long days and hours in Jordan.  With people given limited hours to buy their needed commodities and social distancing, this implied that no Holy Masses were to be celebrated in Churches with the believers’ attendance to mark Easter celebrations.

“My Home is My Church”/ JESUS VISITS EVERY HOME

To make up for the failure to attend Holy Masses marking this grand feast due to the lockdown, the Catholic Center for Studies and Media in Jordan (CCSM) embarked on a substantive  measure by live-streaming Holy  Masses. The live-streaming of the Holy Masses at the time of lockdown took the slogan, “My Home is My Church”, a matter which had huge repercussions in Jordan as well as in several countries worldwide.

During Easter celebrations, people go to church to visit Lord Jesus and express jubilation on His resurrection and defeating death, yet this year with the live-streamed Holy Masses Lord Jesus Himself visited every celebrating family and shared with the family members the joy of giving them eternal life through His precious blood that was shed on the Cross.

JESUS’ RESURRECTION IS THE JOY

With the prevailing lockdown, people could neither exchange gifts, nor make sweets and decorate eggs, nor even gather to exchange well wishes.

The feast celebrants shared a feeling of frustration for the joy of Easter could not be marked in the proper way as has been the case in the previous years.

Yet, these celebrants did not forget the fact that the joy of the feast is in the first place based on the resurrection of Lord of the Feast, namely Lord Jesus Christ.

Despite everything, the feast reflected nonpareil joy. It is about the Word of God who became Man, like any other human being, for He lived with us, and showed us the glory of God’s love.

The Holy Bible says, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome] it. (John1: 1-5)

Lord Jesus was not a physician, yet he treats all the diseases of the world with one word or one touch.

He was not a philosopher, yet his wisdom has no equal.

He was not a chemist, yet he converted water into wine.

In history, He is the beginning and the end.

In governance, “The government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called wonderful counselor, Mighty God, everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.

Jesus did not use medicine, but He was the panacea for all diseases.

He did not fight battles, but He occupied the hearts and minds of all with His sublime teachings.

He did not commit any crime or sin, yet He was crucified. He was buried but he rose from the dead and He is alive.

Despite the fact that  Easter celebrations were not marked as has been the case every year, yet the joy of the feast prevailed making Jesus’ crucifixion, shedding of His precious love and His victory over death giving promise to all the believers that He is with them till the end of the time.

He is alive.
