RAMALLAH – Once again this year, Aid to the Church in Need (ACN) has called children around the world to pray the Rosary as part of its campaign “One Million Children Praying the Rosary”, to which Pope Francis has given his support.
On Monday, October 19, 2020, Fr. Remon Haddad, director of Catechetical Office of the Latin Patriarchate, invited all Catholic schools to pray the Rosary for unity, peace and end of the current pandemic.
On the same day, the office organized a prayer at the Latin Patriarchate school (Al-Ahliyya college) in Ramallah where students from the 5th to the 7th grades, as well as the catechists, religious women and Fr. Remon, gathered and prayed the rosary.
The students had the opportunity to learn more about the Rosary and the reasons for which one prays it. They also were able to pray its Mysteries.
The first Joyful Mystery, the “Annunciation,” is where Mary conceived through the power of the Holy Spirit. The students prayed this Mystery to strengthen their faith in God and trust Him just like Mary.
The second Joyful Mystery, the “Visitation,” is where the pregnant Virgin Mary received the blessing of her cousin Elizabeth. The students prayed this Mystery for missionaries, who carry the good news of Salvation to others so that they can have strength and joy.
The “Nativity” is the third Mystery where Jesus was born in Bethlehem. The students prayed for poor families and all children who couldn’t go to school or don’t have houses so that God may give them peace and health.
The fourth Mystery, the “Presentation,” is where Mary and Joseph presented Jesus in the Temple in Jerusalem. The students prayed for the sick and lonely people so that God may help them carry their crosses.
The fifth Mystery is “Finding of Jesus in the Temple”. The students prayed for those who have lost their relatives and friends because of the Coronavirus or other diseases or war, so that God may give them solace and eternal life.
In conclusion, Fr. Remon gave the students his blessing after they sang some Marian hymns.
