In an atmosphere filled with joy and faith, Bishop Hosam Naoum, the Anglican Archbishop in Jerusalem, presided over the Eucharist at his home parish, St. Paul Anglican Church, in Shefa-Amr celebrating the Feast of the Conversion of St. Paul, and marking the beginning of the year of Jubilee, marking the 150th anniversary of the dedication of the Church, on Saturday Evening January 28th, 2023. He was assisted by Rev’d Canon Fuad Dagher, the Vicar of the parish, who welcomed Archbishop Naoum, and Mrs. Rafa Qafiti Naoum his wife, and all who were present at the service, in his welcoming remarks, he thanked God for giving him the spiritual privilege to celebrate with the parish on their 150th anniversary. A group of Diocesan Clergy participated in the service. The service was attended by the clergy and nuns of the other churches in Shefa-Amr, some Evangelical priests, parishioners, and friends of the congregation.
Archbishop Naoum’s sermon was on St. Paul’s conversion, which was like an epiphany, and mentioned how it always falls during the season of Epiphany. He also praised Cn. Dagher’s blessed ministry in Shefa-Amr, highlighting his efforts to unite and be present with all, as St. Paul was the Apostle of the Gentiles.
After the Creed, Bishop Naoum consecrated the two new stained glass windows, the first of Christ Pantocrator, and the second of St. Glassthe patron of the Church, both a donation by Mrs. Janet Abu Rahmeh. Directly after the service, Bishop Naoum consecrated a mosaic of St. Paul presented by Mr. Kareem and His wife Sunbula Naoum. We thank them all for their generosity.
After the service, the assembly gathered at the Church’s Hall to celebrate and share in a meal. Mrs. Hana Nawatha Dagher prepared and led a religious and entertainment segment. And on the tunes of the parish’s traditional song, the cake was cut.
بأجواء البهجة والايمان، ترأس رئيس الأساقفة الأنچليكاني في القدس المطران حسام نعوم خدمة الشّركة المقدّسة في رعيتّه الأم لكنيسة مار بولس الأسقفية الأنچليكانية في شفاعمرو بمناسبة عيد اهتداء القديس بولس، واحتفالاً ببداية سنة اليوبيل المائة والخمسين عاماً على تكريس الكنيسة، وذلك مساء يوم السبت 28/1/2023. عاونه كاهن الرعيّة القس الكنن فؤاد داغر الذي رحّب برئيس الأساقفة وعقيلته السّيدة رفاء قفعيتي نعوم وبجميع الحضور وأعرب عن فرحه وشكره لله على الامتياز الروحي بالاحتفال باليوبيل ال 150، وشارك في القداس لفيف من كهنة المطرانية، بحضور كهنة رعايا المدينة وراهباتها وعدد من القساوسة الإنجيليّين وجمع غفير من الرعيّة وأصدقائها.
قدّم رئيس الأساقفة نعوم عظته الروحيّة عن القديس بولس وعيد اهتدائه الذي كان بمثابة ظهور، وهو يقع دائماً في موسم الظهور. وأشاد بخدمة الكنن داغر المباركة في شفاعمرو وشبّهها بالرّوحانية البولسيّة وهو يجمّع ويتواجد مع الجميع، كما كان بولس وهو رسول الأمم.
بعد تلاوة قانون الايمان قام المطران نعوم بتكريس شبّاكين جديدين من زجاج الفيتراج، واحد للسيد المسيح الضابط الكل وآخر للقديس بولس شفيع الكنيسة قدّمتهما السّيدة جانيت أبو رحمة مشكورة. وبعد الخدمة مباشرة قام المطران نعوم بتدشين لوحة للقديس بولس من الفسيفساء، تقدمة من السيد كريم وعقيلته السيدة سنبلة نعوم، الشكر لهما أيضاً على عمل أيديهما.
ثمّ اجتمع الجميع من قاعة الكنيسة للإحتفال وكسر الخبز المحبة، حيث قامت السيدة هناء نواطحة داغر بتفعيل الحضور ببرنامج شيّق دينيّ وترفيهيّ. وعلى أنغام أغنية الكنيسة التقليديّة “عيد الكنيسة يا عيد” تم تقطيع الكعكة.
