RAMALLAH – On Wednesday August 9th, 2023, President Mahmoud Abbas, President of the State of Palestine, welcomed to the district of Ramallah His Beatitude Pierbattista Pizzaballa, Latin Patriarch of Jerusalem, and his delegation.
In the presence of Dr. Ramzi Khoury, president of the Higher Presidential Committee of Churches Affairs in Palestine, and a couple of members. Congratulating Mgr Pizzaballa for his appointment as a cardinal for the Holy City. Mr. Abbas indicated that such a position granted by His Holiness, the Pope, to the Patriarch of Jerusalem, and to the city of Jerusalem itself, is a source of pride for all of us, both Christians and Muslims. He added, saying: “It holds us at great responsibility to work towards justice and peace in the region.
Mr. Abbas affirmed his continued efforts to achieve peace for the Palestinian people. And he ended by sending a greeting of peace, from the land of peace, to His Holiness, Pope Francis; wishing him good health and blessings.
