Aleppo – Four years after the beginning of the conflict in Syria, there are currently more than 5 million children and 2 million displaced who have sought refuge in neighboring countries. According to estimates by the United Nations Fund for Children more than 10 thousand children have died and many more have been orphaned.
Over 2 million children do not attend school on a regular basis because it is dangerous or because the buildings have been destroyed or because they have been used to accommodate the displaced. In a recent report from Save the Children together with the American Institutes for Research we read that children who go to primary school in Syria dropped from 100% to 50%. The number of people who need emergency aid has doubled in a year, currently, nearly 4 million Syrians have fled to neighboring countries.
