Heads of the Catholic Churches in the Holy Land will hold two-day meetings on September 25-26 at the Melkite Greek Catholic Church Vicariate in Amman with an agenda covering several issues that concern the Church of the Holy Land.

The discussions will focus on Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amoris laetitia relevant to the marriage sacrament where the bishops will answer relevant questions raised by believers. The bishops are scheduled to celebrate Mass on Tuesday, September 25, which is organized by Caritas Jordan to mark the International Day of Peace.

On Wednesday, September 26, Head of the Ecclesiastical Court in Jordan Fr. Jihad Shweihat will make a presentation on the shortest court procedures on cases relevant to invalidity of marriage. The apostolic nuncios in Holy Land, namely Apostolic Nuncio to Jordan Archbishop Alberto Ortega Martín and Apostolic Nuncio in Jerusalem Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli, will also hold a meeting to discuss diplomatic relations.

Prior to the conclusion of meetings, Caritas Jordan Director Wael Suleiman will present to the meeting bishops a report on the recent activities of Caritas Jordan. The heads of churches will tour several religious touristic sites in Jordan on Thursday, September 27, including Umm Ar-Rasas and Mount Nebo in Madaba.
