On February 14, 2024, HCEF commemorated Valentine’s Day by honoring the elders from the towns of Birzeit and Atara for their boundless love and generosity towards their children and grandchildren throughout the years. This event aimed to celebrate their love for each other and rekindle emotions that may be overshadowed by the routines of daily life.

In collaboration with the Department of Elders at the Palestinian Ministry of Health (PMOH), a lecture was conducted on risk factors and prevention of falls, accompanied by screenings for diabetes and blood pressure for the elders. Posters were used to illustrate the importance of caution and awareness, particularly among the elderly, emphasizing the significance of avoiding haste on stairs and ensuring adequate lighting.

Mr. Rateb Rabie, President and CEO of HCEF, emphasized that this event serves as a token of gratitude for the elders who nurtured and cherished us with love. It honors their tireless efforts in preserving Palestinian traditions, culture, and history, passing them on to future generations. He also extended appreciation to the elders in the Gaza Strip, enduring the hardships of genocide and challenging living conditions, assuring them of constant remembrance and solidarity, and expressing hope for their swift liberation and the recovery of the wounded.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the Directors of PMOH for their dedicated efforts in educating our elders. We also express gratitude to our partner, the Atara Municipality, and the members of the BSCC Center committees for their invaluable contributions to the success of this event. Each elder was presented with a red rose by HCEF and offered lunch and sweets as tokens of appreciation, along with small gifts provided by PMOH.
