The Middle East crisis haunts the peoples of Palestine, Iraq, Syria and Yemen who “suffer the violence of war” and “aspire to fair, global and lasting peace”. But the advent of peace is only possible “through diplomatic channels and not through wars that only generate more wars”. This is the only way out of conflicts that cause bloodshed in the Middle East indicated by the Maronite Patriarch Bechara Boutros Rai during Sunday Mass, which he celebrated yesterday at the patriarchal seat in Bkerké.
In his homily, the text of which was sent to Agenzia Fides, Cardinal Rai once again urges Lebanese political forces to find an agreement to elect a new President of the Republic before 25 May. “The ordeal for our nation”, said Patriarch Rai among other things “will end only when the peace of Christ reigns in the hearts and minds of politicians. And it is for this purpose that we pray every day”.
