On Tuesday, June 27, “the Association of Christians of the East in Jordan” held a lecture delivered by Archimandrite Agabius Abu Sa’da
on “Arab Christian Theology Between Yesterday and Today, and the Impact of Islam on Writing Theology in Arabic” at Al Husun Cooperative Association hall.
At the outset of the lecture, Head of the Media Association Lina Musharbash delivered a brief address during which she welcomed the attendees and Archimandrite Abu Sa’da who was born in Beit Sahour, the Holy Land, and serving as a priest of the Melkite Greek Catholic Diocese of Haifa. He holds a PhD in the Holy Bible from the University of the Holy Spirit in Kaslik, Lebanon.
Archimandrite Abu Sa’da spoke about the bright Christian Arab presence through the translations and authorships that characterized the first centuries, as many philosophers and theologians enriched the Arab library with their writings and translations which became nowadays referred to as the Arab Christian heritage and flourished in successive Islamic eras especially from the 8th to the 14th centuries.
At the end of the lecture, a discussion ensued about the most important current challenges facing Christian unity, as well and the renovation and resuscitation of this heritage so as to make it acceptable to the youth nowadays.
