The Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF) and the Nursing Faculty of Birzeit University organized a joint ‘Health Day’ at the Birzeit Senior Citizen Center in Birzeit City in honor of the International Nursing Day on Wednesday, May 12, 2010.

1The day consisted of a visit to the Center by students from the Faculty of Nursing at Birzeit University, in which medical check-ups and roses were given to the participating senior citizens. The roses were ceremoniously given to mark the students’ commitment to making regular visits to the Center and to providing ongoing, high-quality health care to the senior citizens at the Center.

2Rateb Y. Rabie, KCHS, President/CEO of HCEF commented, “This occasion also marked the ongoing strategic relationship between HCEF and Birzeit University, specifically, as well as their broader commitment to working in partnership with

important institutions in the Palestinian community. We aim to strengthen the Palestinian and Christian communities with the key elements of sustainable development which will be a major element in leveraging the quality of their lives.” In addition, Mr. Rabie stated that in the coming months, HCEF will develop educational and developmental programs aimed at linking professionals from abroad with their counterparts in Palestine, and accordingly conduct specialized training sessions, workshops and seminars intended to recruit professional Palestinian manpower to serve and strengthen the community.

3HCEF deeply thanks the Faculty of Nursing at Birzeit University and the students who were involved in this special day. HCEF also expressed its desire to broaden and strengthen the level of cooperation between HCEF and Birzeit University, in order to more effectively and sustainably serve the Palestinian community and its people.
