RIIFS welcomed a group of students from Florida International University, USA. The students, led by Dr Mohammed K. Ghumrawi, Senior Programme Coordinator and Adjunct Professor of Politics and International Relations, were participating in the study abroad program “FIU in the Middle East”.
Dr Amer Al Hafi, RIIFS Academic Advisor, introduced students to the history, mission, programmes and activities of the institute. He then gave a presentation on the religious and cultural diversity in the Arab-Islamic civilization. In addition to the Islamic-Christian relations in Jordanian society and the importance of the “Common Word” document in the development of Islamic-Christian dialogue.
Dr Renee Hattar, RIIFS Director met briefly with the participants who had questions about Christian-Islamic relations in Jordan and RIIFS programmes mainly the internship programme.
The purpose of the visit was to foster a deeper understanding of the history, politics and society of Jordan, as well as the broader Middle East, through the experience of traveling and studying in the region.
This meeting, as well as the FIU study abroad programme, were organised by RIIFS partner the Holy Land Christian Ecumenical Foundation (HCEF).
